One of the least desirable cards in the game for a number of reasons, Volklingen is a card that nonetheless finds itself holding on better than complete garbage like '''[[Kay]]'''. With underwhelming damage versus non-green targets, and still underwhelming damage vs. green targets- Volklngen has a surprisingly clutch ability to bring numbers that will completely surprise you if played in an ailing state. Couple this with an incredibly high chance to blind, and he will end up saving you in normal dungeons more than you would ever care to admit. None the less, Volklingen boasts the traditional problem of a very low sub pool due to the rarity of his skill icon, a fantastically awful sub skill, and low capability to spread his status around due to being a single hit, for all of the small upsides, he is just generally not a very good card. Red also, as usual, has much better attacker options to substitute him with.
{|class="wikitable" !||SL1||SL2||SL3||SL4||SL5||SL6||SL7 |- |BLIND||60%||63%||68%||75%||85%||85%||85% |- |ELEM MOD||2.0x||2.2x||2.4x||2.7x||3.0x||3.4x||3.8x |} Volklingen's Elemental modifier increases at the same rate as every other SS card- to understand this, this is the modifier placed on his damage versus green targets. These numbers are irrelevant vs. red or blue targets. Volklingen's blind chance is astronomically high, making him incredibly efficient at blinding his targets- except he is only a single hit, so you would require assistance to effectively blind a team. It also stops increasing at sl5, giving good reason to consider never skill leveling him past that point if you only desire his blind. Volklingen's damage increases with HP loss, but the multiplier before element is taken into account is the same at all levels- therefore, below- {| !||100%||80%||60%||40%||20% |- |DMG||1.2x||1.4x||1.5x||1.6x||1.7x |} As you can see, his modifier increases by every 20% of hp you've lost, and reaches up to 1.7x. This is actually very significant damage when combined with the elemental modifier, but is again conditionally variant depending on how hurt you are, making it virtually worthless most of the time. Regardless, Furnacemech has solid multipliers that are better than most elemental monsters, making him one of the best damage dealers if you like being nearly dead, and only against green targets.
Complete garbage in all manners. While 25% damage sounds nice, damage is less effective than skill boost and the number is as such much lower than what it seems. The condition does not sound hard to meet, which sounds attractive- but is ruined due to furnacemech's icon. Most of the cards you would want to place Furnacemech on, especially due to the scarcity of elemental icon's sub options, do not want to be hitting red targets. This means Furnacemech is essentially either on a B-grade card vs. it's preferred target due to him, or on a card that is not benefitting from his skill icon bonus. Nonetheless, a situational pick if you have absolutely nothing better during a red boss event dungeon, or on an Elemental icon just for the skill icon bonus. However, on-icon S cards will probably do you much better.
