Strategy

Ragnarok

  • Ragnarok's Preemptive attack will break Shields and inflict Debuffs. (This can be avoided with Evasion Shields though.)
  • Ragnarok's attacks can inflict Debuffs and various random Status Effects (Seal, Charm, Paralysis, Petrify, etc.)
  • Ragnarok will also occasionally attempt to Steal your Buffs.
  • If Ragnarok applies any sort of Shield, attempt to remove it ASAP with Anti-Shield cards that can inflict Damage UP or Break Shields.
  • On Dragon Difficulty and below, once Ragnarok falls below 50% HP, he'll hit the Party for heavy damage, break Shields, and inflict random Status Effects. (He really likes to spam this at low HP.)
  • Ragnarok has two Nuke Attacks.
  • Type-A Nuke: If Ragnarok Buffs itself to +10 to all Stats and gains a Red Aura (but no Shield), you'll need to Debuff him immediately or he'll Nuke the Party on the next turn.
    • Any sort of Debuff effect will prevent the Nuke from occuring. You don't necessarily need Debuff Cards, but ones inflicted via Subs can work.
    • If you fail to Debuff Ragnarok, the Nuke will deal very high damage. This attack can be avoided with an Evasion Shield if you have it.
  • Type-B Nuke: When Ragnarok falls below 50% HP on God difficulty and higher, he'll fully Heal and Buff himself +10 to all Stats, apply a Sustained Buff effect, and start glowing with a Red Aura (Twilight of the Gods). At this point, you have two Turns to remove his Iron Wall Shield.
    • On the next turn, Ragnarok will hit the Party for 99% HP Gravity damage and inflict -10 to all Stats and Damage UP.
    • If you fail to remove the Shield or apply Damage UP within the two Turns, Ragnarok will Nuke the Party for ~200% HP damage (INSTANT DEATH).
    • If you manage to remove the Shield or apply Damage UP within the two Turns, Ragnarok won't Attack the Party but will instead self-inflict a Sustained Debuff effect and deal massive damage to itself (50% Max HP damage). Additionally, he'll fully Heal and Buff the Party back up to max while greatly Debuffing himself.
  • Make sure to stay Healed up all all times, especially after the Gravity attack!

Fafnir

  • From Demon Difficulty onwards, Fafnir will use his Preemptive Attack to attack the Party and inflict Poison.
  • His first attack will generally inflict heavy Debuffs and apply a Sustained Debuff to the Party. If you have any Status Reflect Shields active, you can Reflect his Sustained Debuff back at him!
  • Sustain Cards like Strength and Okuni can be handy for keeping the Sustained Debuff effect off your Party.
  • Fafnir will also frequently try to heavily Debuff the Party and inflict Poison with his attacks. Status Reflect or Strong Counter Shields can be quite useful to utilize.
  • Make sure to clear Fafnir's Poison as it can deal quite a bit of damage on higher difficulties.
  • Fafnir will infrequently Buff himself quite a bit and apply a Sustained Buff effect to further Buff himself each turn. Be sure to Debuff him a bit if his Stats get too high.
  • If all of Fafnir's Stats hit +5, he'll wipe his Buffs to gain a Red Aura and Iron Wall; this is the telltale sign of his incoming Nuke attack next turn! It'll break Shields and inflict heavy damage to the Party.
    • You can interrupt Fafnir's Nuke by removing his Iron Wall. He'll just attack the Party for nominal damage instead.
  • Be wary of Debuffing Fafnir too much; if all his Stats hit -5, he'll reverse them to +5! (He can also prepare his Nuke attack from this as well.)

True Dragon King

For the 2nd Run, there are two TDK Dungeons: One for Ragnarok and another one for Fafnir.

Ragnarok

  • This is pretty much the same as fighting Ragnarok on Dragon King difficulty.
  • The only real difference is that he now has ~2x the HP from DK (3 Mil HP); everything else still applies.

Fafnir

  • The general Strategy remains the same, though the fight with Fafnir does change a little bit.
  • Fafnir's Preemptive Attack is the same as before, but now he also puts up a 2-turn Iron Wall.
    • This also deals quite a bit of damage (40k+), so Preemptive Iron Wall is generally recommended.
  • Whenever Fafnir drops below a certain amount of HP, he may apply the following Shields:
    • HP >= 80%: Strong Counter + Damage Reduction (50%) Shield; Lasts for 2 turns.
    • HP < 80%: Unbreakable Strong Counter + Damage Reduction (50%) Shield; Lasts for 2 turns.
    • HP = ~50%: 6-tick Iron Wall
    • HP = ~20%: Unbreakable 2-turn Iron Wall
  • Since the Unbreakable Shields are present in this fight, be sure to pack cards like Latio, Orpheus, Siegfried, Fam Taos, and so on to overwrite the Shields with Damage UP.
  • Shield Breaker and Anti-Shield Cards are HIGHLY recommended; especially if Fafnir prepares to Nuke you.

Super Dragon Emperor

  • Ragnarok appears at the Boss.
  • Ragnarok's Preemptive Attack does 99% HP Gravity damage and breaks Shields.
    • As such, make Healing up your first priority!
  • Beyond that, the fight itself is just a slightly harder version of the TDK fight. The general strategy remains the same.

Recommended Cards

  • Green Slash: Siegfried, Vermouth, Raijin, Millis, Namahage, etc.
  • Damage UP Cards: Sigurd, Linda, Latio, Daji, Kohaku, etc.
  • Status Reflect/Debuff: Zashiki, High Priestess, Iroha, Daji
  • Sustain: Star, Strength, Festival Spica, Monica (Gig)
