Much like Patricia (Detective), Nekomata is a Debuff Card that can inflict Sleep. However, Nekomata comes a bit worse off than Patricia for a number of reasons. First off, Nekomata only Debuffs ATK; this wouldn't be so bad if most Debuff cards weren't geared towards Debuffing two Stats. Granted, the ATK Debuff is pretty strong, but if it misses, it's a waste. Secondly, Nekomata's secondary effect of Stealing the target's DEF is pretty poor. It just Steals +1 DEF and has a pretty low 33% chance of doing so. Thus, Nekomata's definitely more geared towards Colosseum and Duel Match.
A pretty interesting Sub for Youkai cards. Nekomata grants a 20-30% Skill Boost, but if you sub her along alongside two other Youkai cards, she grants a 30% Skill Boost instead. Of course, being as there's only a handful of Youkai cards available, your options are limited as to what to pair her with. Ideally, she's best put on a Youkai Support card like Karakasa-obake, Tofu-kozo, and so on. (In fact, most Youkai Subs are generally geared towards Support cards.) Of course, even without the extra Youkai Subs, she's still pretty strong.
Nekomata are a kind of cat yōkai told about in folklore. There are two very different types: the ones that live in the mountains, and the ones raised domestically that grow old and transform.
