One of the best Multiply Enhance cards in the game...if you get lucky. Regardless, he's still a very strong pickup and absolutely worth rolling for in most cases. True to his name, he's a bit of a gamble, but he works just as effectively in both PVE and PVP decks.
Gambler's Enhance is a Multiplier with the same set of value modifiers, but unlike the traditional attack multiplier of 3, a loaded D6 roll is used to determine the number of times he multiplies the attack. This means that 35% of the time he performs worse than any other multiplier, 40% of the time he performs equally, and 25% of the time he can outperform. Misfortune can strike at any and often the worst of times. Proceed with caution!
- On Straight+, increases minimum activations to 2.
- On Four Card+, increases minimum activations to 3.
- On House Flush+, increases minimum activations to 4.
Functionally, Awakening doesn't change up Gambler much. His Main Skill remains primarily the same as before, but now with some added protection. Depending on the hand made, you can increase the minimum number of activations, decreasing the chances of getting a low roll. But you need some pretty good hands for at least 3-4, so you're still gambling as usual with Gambler.
Gambler has a fairly sizable base effectiveness boost to Enhance users, but also the highest potential boost to them in general. The catch is that it's unreliable, since you'll be jumping from numbers like 11% to 23% from one turn to the next. It's still fantastic, and one of the best in the game for what it does.
Gambler gets a notable Skill Boost improvement, making him far better than before. However, he's still limited to Enhance Cards in the A Slot, so that's a significant limitation.
Our group of players tends to refer to Gambler as "Johnny" or "Five Aces" (5A), this is because many of us felt he shared similarities to the character of the same name from Zybourne Clock.
