About Orbs

  • Orbs are generally rare drops from 30*+ Normal Dungeons, Challenge Dungeons, and Training. They can be used to power up your Cards in various ways.
  • The Orb system is not unlocked until you get your first Orb drop, so don't go crazy trying to look for it in the menus.
  • Cards can have varying amounts of sockets to put Orbs into. Typically, the stronger a card is, the less slots it will have. (However, Awakened Cards usually have lots of slots available.)
  • The Orbs themselves have varying socket costs so some might require more than one socket to use on a card.
  • Once socketed, Orbs cannot be removed unless you spend 100 Dragon Medals on a Removal Stone. This will then let you use an Orb elsewhere.
  • You can overwrite Orbs in cards that already have Orbs socketed in them. However, take care as any overwritten Orbs are permanently lost!
  • Each Orb has a Rarity Rating that goes from ★ to ★★★★★. The more ★ an Orb has, the rarer (and often more powerful) it is.
  • You can hold up to 600 Orbs in your Orb List. You can sell or fuse any unwanted Orbs if you're approaching full capacity.
    • If you go over the Orb limit, any Orbs you've obtained will sit in your Gift Box until claimed.

Orb Conversion

Added in the 2.5.5 Update, this allows you fuse Orbs of the same Rarity to convert them to another (random) Orb of the same or higher Rarity.
This can be a good way to get rid of unwanted Orbs and possibly turn them into something more useful.

To clarify, the chance of getting a higher Rarity Orb is determined by the # of Orbs used. This currently maxes at 25% with 5 Orbs.
This costs a fairly significant amount of Gold to do as well. Also of note is that there's no point in converting more than two ★★★★★ Orbs at a time, as they won't increase in Rarity.

Orb Types

There are several types of Orbs, each with their own abilities and rarity. Generally, the higher the rarity, the stronger the Orb is.

HP Orbs

HP Orbs increase a card's HP.

Skill Orbs

Skill Orbs grant Skill Boosts to certain types of Skills. These tend to take up several sockets.

  • For X Skill, this means there are separate Orbs for each Skill Type (Slash, Heal, Enhance, etc.) and Status Effect (Seal, Blind, etc.)
  • For Y Skill, this means there are separate Orbs for each Skill Type (Slash, Heal, Enhance, etc.)
  • For (Ace-King) Power-Up, there are separate Orbs for each specific Cardinal (A,1,2,3 all the way to King).

Limited Orbs are only available for a limited time or only come from specific Dungeons/Events.
Many [Challenge Dungeons] have Limited Orbs that may very rarely drop when you clear them.

Orb FAQs

What is better: ATK or Skill Boost Orbs?

This depends on a number of factors such as Orb Slots and the Card's Maximum Attack value. Attack Orbs are generally Additive, as they add to the Base Attack of the Card, where as Skill Boosts are Multiplicative. Under typical circumstances, equipping ATK Orbs is typically the way to go. However, if a Card has 5 Orb Slots, it is probably more beneficial to slap in a X Skill UP Lv3-5 Orb + a 2-Slot ATK Orb.

Something else to consider is the Card's Base Attack. For a X Skill UP Lv3 Orb, the Card's Attack would need to be very high to see real performance benefits (like 1800+), whereas for X Skill UP Lv4-5, these Orbs will typically outperform an ATK Orb that would fill in all Slots. As such, if a Card has 3 or more Slots, consider giving them a X Skill UP Lv4-5 Orb (especially if they have high Attack to begin with). Of course, given how these Orbs tend to be pretty rare, feel free to slot Orbs as you choose.

What is better: DEF or HP Orbs?

This one is a bit trickier. Essentially, if you equip a +320 HP Orb, your HP will increase by 320 (give or take) but only 1/8 of that value would reduce damage taken.
Likewise, if you equip a +320 DEF Orb, then you'd be reducing about roughly 42-44 Damage taken.

The formula for Damage being incurred is such:
(Attack Power (corrected w/Skill Boosts) - Defense Power) x Damage Reduction

The general idea is that for most single attacks, HP works as a better buffer. Against multiple attacks, DEF does more to help reduce damage.
So one strictly really isn't better than the other. But for general purposes, HP does more to help you than DEF.
